Talanta Na Amani (2021 to 2022)

An activity where the Performing Arts and tailormade Arts Self-Management training was used to Promote Entrepreneurship and Social Change amongst vulnerable youth in Nakuru Town.

The main aim was to promote self-reliance and self-realization and targeted managerial, mentor and training sessions among young vulnerable people in Nakuru County to enable them to widen their scope on life’s choices, connect with professional performance platforms so that they don’t fall (and/or move away from) destructive behaviors including gang membership and extremism.

Trust worked with a tailor-made curriculum that specifically targeted extremism, gang membership, conflict resolution and violence as well as other topics like self-management, leadership, strategic planning and so on.

Through this program a maximum of 100 youths were trained on a monthly bases (one week each month for 8 months) in order to build their self-esteem, leadership skills and to empower them with knowledge that built their character and improved their skills and behavior into responsible, mature and productive citizens.

By being enrolled in this activity, the targeted youth had an opportunity to network amongst one another, which further enhanced their capacities.

This project connected the talented youth with mentors in Kenya and the USA, including artists, community leaders, rehabilitated convicts amongst others, thus creating a network that will continue to support positive community behavior and development.
